The girth hitch, also known as the larks foot, is a simple way of attaching a loop of rope, or a sling, to just about anything.

A common use is to girth hitch a sling to the main loop of your harness, and clip a crab on the end. This can then be used quickly as a safety line.

Start with a sling or loop of rope. Pass the sling around the object that you are girth hitching it too. 125_2547.jpg (17703 bytes)
